- To differentiate morning and evening, we use “a.m.” (ante meridiem) for hours before noon and “p.m.” (post meridiem) for hours after noon.
- Example: 11:20 a.m. is read as “eleven twenty a.m.”
3. Describing Exact Time in Minutes
- Start by stating the hour: “It’s [hour] o’clock.”
- For minutes past the hour (up to 30 minutes), use “past”: “It’s [minutes] past [hour].”
- For minutes beyond the half hour, use “to”: “It’s [minutes] to [next hour].”
4. Common Phrases Using ‘Time’
- “Time flies when you’re having fun.”
- “Better late than never.”
- “Killing time.”
